Losing a Client and a Friend. Thank You, Melinda Wilson
This past January, we lost a dear friend and client, Melinda Wilson. We’ve worked with Melinda and Brian Wilson for over twenty years, and Melinda played a significant role in guiding Brian’s career resurgence – helping him to reclaim his career and legacy after his iconic work with the Beach Boys. We were only too happy to help support their efforts.
We loved working with Melinda: she always had Brian’s best interests at heart and she preferred to stay in the background: quite the opposite from others in Brian’s life where his life spiraled out of control until he met Melinda. I’ll have great memories of being welcomed to the Wilson household by Melinda, and working with Brian on some great projects over the years. One of the projects was an anniversary podcast series for Brian’s 1966 masterpiece with the Beach Boys, Pet Sounds. Working with Brian on discussing the album’s songs and having him play “God Only Knows” in his music room, looking down on Los Angeles was an ethereal experience. Thank you Melinda for inviting us into your home, trusting us to work with Brian on such wonderful projects and most of all, for your friendship.
Melinda was a strong and empowering woman and worked hard to raise awareness and fight the stigma of mental health, and was beautifully portrayed by Elizabeth Banks in the 2014 film, Love & Mercy. She provided Brian with the emotional security he needed, and a loving family of five children. I’ll always remember our great talks about life and our families, and her sense of humor. She was a true role model for sure.
Melinda we will miss you, Love & Mercy.
NOTE: We designed a special page celebrating Melinda’s life on Brian’s website. You can see it here.
