A New Website for the Legendary “Mama Cass” Reflects Her Iconic Talent and Vibrant Personality
The Estate of Cass Elliot engaged Designsite to craft a new digital haven for the iconic songstress affectionately known as "Mama Cass," revered for her role in the legendary 1960s folk-rock ensemble, The Mamas & the Papas. A pivotal figure in the vibrant Laurel Canyon music scene, Cass Elliot captivated audiences with her unmistakable voice and magnetic charisma.
Drawing from a wealth of captivating photography, including select works from esteemed photographer Henry Diltz, the website serves as a homage to Cass' enduring talent and influence. Music and videos harmoniously intertwine to showcase her remarkable artistry, solidifying her status as one of her generation's most iconic voices. A carefully curated color palette and selection of fonts, reflective of the era's aesthetic, evoke the essence of the times, transporting visitors to the heart of the 1960s musical landscape.
Coinciding with the release of Owen's memoir, "My Mama, Cass," scheduled for May 7, the website becomes a platform to celebrate her legacy. Moreover, the announcement of three of Cass' seminal albums reissued on vinyl by CBS Music on May 23 will be prominently showcased, underscoring her lasting impact on popular music.
Despite her untimely passing in 1974, Cass Elliot's influence endures, leaving an indelible mark on the annals of music history. Said Designsite’s Michael DeMartin, “It’s our privilege to contribute to the preservation of Cass' timeless legacy, catering to both steadfast devotees and new admirers alike. This was as fun project to work on, and we’re thrilled that Owen and the estate are so happy with this new website.”
